Submissions are invited for a Special Issue of EPJE dedicated to thermal non-equilibrium phenomena in soft matter. The issue will include contributions presented at the XIIIth International Meeting on Thermodiffusion (IMT) that will take place from September 11th to September 14th, 2018 at Imperial College London. The IMT conference is a well-established forum for discussion of non-equilibrium transport phenomena, with the first meeting going back to 1994.

The scope of this issue will extend on fundamental studies and applications of soft material under thermal non-equilibrium conditions: theoretical and experimental advances to investigate thermodiffusion in soft matter, novel coupling effects induced by thermal fields, non-equilibrium fluctuations in thermally inhomogeneous fluids, thermodiffusion in porous media, thermal diffusion effects in colloidal suspensions, thermal non-equilibrium phenomena in biology, applications of thermodiffusion in sensing technologies and industrial processes.

The submission is open to everyone working in the field. The submission of contributions will open in mid September 2018. We invite interested authors to contact the guest editors before September 2018, providing a tentative title and a short abstract of their contribution. The full manuscripts should be submitted before the deadline directly to the EPJE Editorial Office at https://articlestatus.edpsciences.org/is/epje/.

Deadline for submission:  January 18th 2019

Submissions should be clearly identified as intended for the Special Issue "Thermal non-equilibrium phenomena in soft matter". Papers will be published continuously and will appear (as soon as accepted) on the journal website. The electronic version of the Special Issue will contain all accepted papers in the order of publication. All submitted papers will be refereed according to the usual high standards of the journal.
