Photography: Practice & Communication

This course is focused on “talking with pictures”. It will challenge you to create content for your photographs that communicates with your audience.

Course objectives

  • You will learn through a series of lectures and practical assignments how photographs create visual narratives and construct conceptual ideas;
  • You will be introduced to contemporary debates about photography and will gain knowledge of the history of this popular medium;
  • You will work on photography assignments that are designed to place the theory in the context of your own photography practice;
  • You will be challenged to investigate visual language and to develop your own “visual voice”

Students will end the course with a portfolio of pictures that will form the foundation of their individual photography practice.
