The glycosciences laboratory
Over the last five years, we have worked extensively with our partners in the Imperial Glycosciences Laboratory run by Professor Ten Feizi. We were able to solve some of their data management problems by building a bespoke web resource for managing work flows into and out of the laboratory. The web resource contains pipelines that integrated the web site with the legacy systems that the laboratory already had so existing processes could remain unchanged. The system enables users of the laboratory to track the progress of their experiment requests as they are processed by laboratory staff. The system also contains a sample management component and a component that allows searches of the glycan library. We have also built a component to visualise and download experimental data produced by the laboratory.
One of the interactive graphs showing the results of a glycosciences experiment is displayed below. Users are able to zoom in and out of regions of interest on the graph and to reorder data using the interactive controls.
