The Centre, near the main entrance of the South Kensington Campus, provides an exclusive space for visiting Imperial alumni and their guests to relax, meet friends and colleagues and catch up with the latest developments at the College.

Careers support

The Careers Advisory Service

Careers Service You will continue to have access to Imperial’s careers services after you graduate as we support you in your professional development.

Alumni who graduated within the last three years are entitled to use the full range of services offered to existing students which includes the use of the Careers Service Information Room and reference library, appointment systems, workshops, employer presentations and careers events. You are also able to access the JobsLive website to search for job opportunities.

Experienced alumni who graduated more than three years ago are welcome to use some of the services offered to existing students and recent alumni, such as the Careers Service Information Room and reference library.

Discounts on further study

Alumni are entitled to a 10% discount off the School of Professional Development’s short courses and evening classes. Subjects include modern languages, creative writing, music technology and science fiction.

Alumni are entitled to a 10% discount on Summer School courses on finance, entrepreneurship, strategy and marketing.

The benefits include a complete Google mailbox service (including Google Calendar, Drive and Talk). The account is easy to set up and manage.

Student accounts normally remain active for up to one year after the end date of your course. You will receive an email from ICT to confirm the expiry date of your student account. At this time, you are welcome to create an alumni email account.

Library access

How to access the library as an alumnus

Imperial alumni may join the Central Library and campus libraries free of charge. You can learn more about library access and apply for a membership, by going to the Library webpages. 


Your access to e-journals, e-books and databases is limited only to those permitted by the terms of our licences and mainly available within the Library.  A growing number of online resources are available for remote access by alumni. You can access these resources by creating an Imperial Plexus account. Their use is strictly for non-commercial purposes and you must adhere to licence restrictions.

ASM Handbooks Online

ASM Handbooks Online contains the complete content of the ASM Handbook series. Together these volumes provide practical information and data about the selection, processing, performance and analysis of structural materials. Available in full text with scanned images and tables. 

ASM Alloy Center Database

The ASM Alloy Center Database enables you to search across ASM property data, performance charts, and processing guidelines for specific metals and alloys.

ASM Alloy Phase Diagram Database

The ASM Alloy Phase Diagram Database contains more than 36,500 binary and ternary phase diagrams and associated phase data for more than 6200 systems.

EBSCO Educational Databases

EBSCO Educational Databases is an online education resource comprising British Education Index (BEI); ERIC; Educational Administration Abstracts; Education Abstracts; and Child Development & Adolescent Studies.

Henry Stewart Talks

Henry Stewart Talks offers audio-visual presentations from different speakers on a variety of subjects. We are pleased to provide you with access to two different collections - The Biomedical & Life Sciences Collection and The Business & Management Collection.

IEEE All-Society Periodicals Package (ASPP)

IEEE ASPP Online is a core collection of engineering, electronics and computer science periodicals.

Instant Anatomy

Instant Anatomy is a web resource to aid in the study of human anatomy with diagrams, lectures, podcasts, questions, MCQs and apps.

JSTOR is a digital library of academic journals, books, and primary sources. It helps people discover, use, and build upon a wide range of content through a powerful research and teaching platform, and preserves this content for future generations. We are pleased to offer alumni access to the following JSTOR collections:

OECD iLibrary Statistics Collection

OECD iLibrary is the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's online library for Books, Papers and Statistics and the gateway to OECD's analysis and data. Access is to the OECD iLibrary Statistics and does not include the IEA (International Energy Agency) statistics. Full text is only available for selected subscribed and freely available titles. 

ProQuest Dissertation & Theses Global (PQDT Global)

The largest single repository of graduate dissertations and theses, ProQuest Dissertation & Theses Global (PQDT Global) simplifies searching for dissertations and theses via a single access point to explore an extensive, trusted collection of 3.8 million graduate works, with 1.7 million in full text.


RefWorks is a bibliographic software package that enables you to: import references from databases or text files, create references from saved PDF articles, build up your own database of relevant references, add correctly formatted citations to word documents and build a bibliography. As an alumnus, you have free access to RefWorks. Your access includes:

  • a free RefWorks account
  • new updates and feature releases
  • 200 MB of file attachment storage
  • the ability to share your folder or account via RefShare
  • free web-based training
  • technical support.

Sage Journals

A collection of journals in the health sciences, life and biomedical sciences, materials sciences and engineering, and social sciences and humanities. Full text is only available for selected subscribed and freely available journal titles.

SAE Mobilus

SAE Mobilus is an authoritative source for current mobility engineering information.


Spiral is an online repository for theses and PhDs. You can access certain Imperial content as an alumnus. You can find more information about Spiral access here.

Walter De Gruyter STM e-journal collection

A collection of science, technology and medicine e-journals from the publisher Walter De Gruyter. Alumni access mirrors the journal content to which the Library currently subscribes to with archive access included back to 1995, or volume 1 if later. Full-text access is available to key De Gruyter journal publications including ‘Pure and Applied Chemistry’ and ‘Biological Chemistry’.
