This graph shows student numbers (headcount) between 2013-14 and 2017-18. Total student numbers have increased by 15.6% between 2013-14 and 2017-18, with undergraduate student numbers increasing by 9.4%, taught postgraduate numbers increasing by 34.2%, and research postgraduate numbers increasing by 12.7%.

Data is sourced from Imperial College Statistics Cards between 2013-14 and 2017-18. Student numbers are based on snapshots taken at 31 December of each year. Please note that MRes students were classified as Postgraduate Research from 2010-11 onwards.

This graph shows the proportion of student numbers by type (undergraduate, taught postgraduate and research postgraduate) from 2013-14 to 2017-18. In 2017-18, undergraduate students made up 53% of the student population compared to 56.1% in 2013-14. In 2017-18, taught postgraduate students made up 25.8% of the student population compared to 22.2% in 2013-14, and research postgraduate students made up 21.2% of the student population compared to 21.7% in 2013-14.

This graph shows the total number of home/EU, and overseas students (full-time and part-time) from 2013-14 to 2017-18. The increase in the number of home/EU students in 2017-18 compared to 2013-14 was 7.9%. The number of overseas students saw a 31.7% increase in the same period.

Student Numbers by Gender

This graph shows the total number of male and female students (full-time and part-time) in the College from 2013-14 and 2017-18. There was an increase in the number of male (+10.9%), and female (+23.7%) students compared to 2013-14.
